Cigar Cutters with....Personality

Since I have already begun to talk about what a cigar smoker must have tools are I'll just keep it going. In my opinion a must have accessories is a cigar cutter. You purchased your stick and the next step is to cut that, light that, smoke that. Nothing like being stuck without a cutter. You will resort to all sorts of emergency measures like biting it,using a pocket knife or a ball point pen. The last thing you want to do is stick a key in a $18 cigar. So be prepared if your going to take this lifestyle serious.

An average $3 cutter will do the job. Keep a few of these around in the car & home for those emergency times. Cutting a Padron Family Reserve 45th Anniversary with such a cutter is like putting a $800 frame on a $250 painting. If your cigars are that serious let the tools be also.

This is a Carbon Fiber Xi3 made by XIKAR. One of the most popular cigar accessories retailers. This guillotine retails for $99.99 with a lifetime warranty.XIKAR boasts the strength & light weight of its cutters are the best. Use it don't lose it.

Now this is Luxe equipment that speaks individuality. The new Mammoth Fossil series from XIKAR. Retails for just $399.99 & every cutter is unique. Made from 10,ooo year old mammoth tusks to decapitate the best of cigars. This is a definite status play.

Now to really express your style, status, personality and Luxe check out this actual warthog tooth cigar cutter by Gershon LTD. N.Y. This sterling silver w/stainless steel blade is $250. Long before XIKAR was customizing extinct mammal teeth Gershon has been creating accessories like none other. The 14kt yellow gold warthog tusk cutter sells for $1800 for you big spenders. Pulling a warthogs tooth out of ones pocket may seem like a bit much for some, but I can pull it off. Think of it as going green.

Max Benjamin Cigar Bar

I'm sure most of the gentlemen in my faction will agree that our lifestyle takes time, money & space. Being a cigar smoker is so much more then putting a rolled & blended stick of tobaccy to your lips, light and puff puff away. There are proper tools needed such as cutter, hole puncher, protective case, lighter or matches. Soon you"ll notice your pockets are full of more than just money. Along with your cigar you will want to (I want to say "partake" but I wont) drink your favorite wine, spirit or beer. Bulging pockets and brown paper or black plastic bag is no way to walk into a room like you shutting it down.

The Max Benjamin Cigar Bar(here's mine) has room for your bottle,four(4) tumblers, travel humidor, mini ice cooler, pockets for cutter, lighter, matches & skeleton key lock to keep the kids away. This is a man bag! Walk into a room with this and watch all eyes on you as everyone waits to see what you pull out. What do you have in that paper bag a 40oz.? These are available in canvas($149.99),leather($269.99) and now Crocodile($299.99) all sale prices. Ladies this would make a great gift for your distinguished gentleman,if he's ready.

Max Benjamin Cigar Bars can be found at http://www.barristercigars.net/ in Union, NJ or http://www.maxbenjamin.com/

Restarant Review: Health Spotlight: HLS Juice Bar, Maplewood, NJ

It seems these days that healthier eating means food that is under seasoned and sometimes outright inedible. Well, in Maplewood, NJ someone's gotten it right.

Located on Springfield Avenue near Yale Street, HLS Juice Bar (HLS: Health, Life, Soul) is one health food eatery where the flavors are as vibrant as its patrons. On nicer days, the eatery's glass facade opens onto the sidewalk where patrons may sit to enjoy the healthy atmosphere. The interior is cleanly decorated with accents of lime green and natural wood. Here form folows function: a simple, clean space, providing simple, yet impeccable health food.

On any given day, you'll find both the young and the old partaking from HLS's healthy menu. With its sundry wraps, shakes, salads & other healthful staples, HLS offers customers fresh cuisine at fair prices.

A personal favorite, the grilled skewer of chicken breast, seasoned with honey jerk or barbeque sauce, delivers loads of protein in a low-carb, low-fat, high-flavor meal. Pair it with an Ital-Nut shake, featuring cashews and raisins for a natural sweetness.

Service is spectacular.

Definitely stop by for a healthful meal. Your body will thank you. And, you'll be able to enjoy the richness of life that much more!!!

Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Torpedo Maduro

So, my love affair with cigars began with my third cigar: a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992. On great spring day in the park, I lit up & was amazed by its amaretto & vanilla character. I was hooked.

Fast forward. A smoke that's been long hailed by Serious Bok as one of the best Rocky makes, the Olde World Reserve Torpedo Maduro recently brought me back to that spring day.

I have always agreed with Serious that the smoke was a good one, but I'd never seen how great it could be, perhaps the others were not properly humidified. Well, I revisited the smoke, picking one up at Blu Door Cigars in Maplewood, NJ (a great hangout).

Pre-light the medium-full bodied stogie showed notes of molasses and cocoa. Upon lighting however, I was blown away by the robust cocoa powder notes & a soft earthiness. These notes remained pronounced throughout the smoke, picking up hints of, allspice, black peppercorn, and a peppery spiciness.

This is definitely one of, if not THE best smoke Rocky produces. Definitely seek it out! At around $10 a stick, its a awesome buy.

Classic Caps

Who doesn't have a classic blue Yankee fitted cap? Even if your not a hat kinda guy you may have one in reserve just in case. This cap is a favorite to many and is cool to everyone except maybe a Mets fan. You can thank Steinbrenner or Jay Z for the notoriety. Thanks Hov!

Lately I have been noticing another trend. May not be new but like I said I'm starting to notice.
The Titleist fitted golf hat is starting to appear more and more off the golf course. The Titleist cap looks like the new hat of leisure and an alternative to the Yankee cap. Titleist means,"One who has won a title", and produces equipment used by Tiger Woods and champions. If your a golfer that's cool but if not who cares. The guy who asks what kind of clubs do you have is probably no good anyway. And he probably not wearing the hat right either. http://www.titleist.com/

No matter what cap you wear make sure its clean and stiff. If your hat is filthy and floppy throw it away do not wash it! And please take the stickers and price tags off.

If you don't know how to wear your hat like a ball player checkout the promo for Jay Zs Blueprint 3. Very impressive...
