Sites: Mahogany on Walnut, Philadephia, PA

"'S been a long time; shouldn't have left you... without a dope beat to step to."

My bad people. Its been real hectic. Much love to Serious for holding it down on here & on Twitter. And to C for keeping "luxe" in the people's minds and mouths.

On to the post...

Situated on Walnut street in the heart of down town Philadelphia, Mahogany on Walnut is a haven for cigar smokers of the LUXE variety. Its an off-shoot from its downstairs neighbor, Holt's Cigar company (an institution, a cathedral of cigars from brands like Davidoff and Ashton, to Tatuaje and Don Pepin Garcia.).

Climbing the stairs to Mahogany, one gets a brief introduction to the warm luxury that awaits through its paisley wallpaper and wood accents. Upon entering, the fireplace surrounded by leather armchairs emits even more soft light and warmth.

The selection of spirits is well-rounded; highlighting Scotches from every region, fine Cognacs and Armagnacs, to Ports and Sherries. There is also an eclectic selection of Belgian ales and Micro-brews, in addition to their wine list.

Though their cigar selection is limited to about 15 different labels, the quality and humidification is perfect. The pricing is also great at just above retail. To give you an idea: on my second visit, a very rare Ashton ESG Corona Extra was only $30.

You may also BYO cigar with no cutting fee. This comes in handy when you're in the mood for a boutique smoke that they may not offer on their list of more famous names: Ashton, Montecristo, Padron, etc.

If you're ever in Philly and need a place to relax and unwind with a great smoke, check out Mahogany on Walnut, open most nights until 2AM. Holt's Cigar Company, where you can grab a cigar before heading upstairs to Mahogany, also offers a more relaxed smoking lounge with espresso service, open until 8PM.

For more information, check out Mahogany and Holt's Cigar Company online.
