Spirit Review: Bacardi 8 Puerto Rican Rum

Let go of all those "gold" designated rums in which artificial coloring adds an oak-aged look to the spirit. Pick up a bottle of Bacardi 8. This fairly new addition to the Bacardi Family is becoming more widely available. Originally only produced for family members, it was released to connoisseurs in 1998. It is a sipping rum, to be served on the rocks or with a drop of water, though its deep flavors will complement any mojito or other rum cocktail. The evident smoothness and delicate sweetness of the cane shines through, owing to meticulous carbon filtration and subsequent aging in cask for 8 years. For summer imbibing, an affordable luxury rum such as this is preferred... perhaps with a fine cigar.

I'd pay top shelf price for a real mojito right now. Those pour and serve mojitos do no justice.
